Miriam created a group of female night-watchers with characteristics that enable them to live in the dark without fear. Layers of sheer and thick fabrics and changes in colour suggest depth; layered prints result from combining collages, drawings and photos. De Waard made her own plissés to create the silhouettes she wanted, and she did some experimenting, winding copper wire and melting sequins on fabric. The pieces in the collection are graphically divided between east and west with a coloured line marking the boundary between the two styles and, paradoxically, strengthening at the same time the union.
